ABOUTLaura was first called to the Bar in 2012 and practises predominantly in administrative law, trusts law and commercial litigation. Prior to this she worked as a solicitor and tax accountant in Australia and the United Kingdom.
A key area of her practice is taxation/revenue law and she appears in proceedings in both the Federal and State jurisdictions for revenue authorities and taxpayers. As an advocate she represents clients in all aspects of taxation litigation including pre-hearing issues such as attendance at compulsory interviews and complying with notices to produce documents as well as mediations, applications and hearings. She also provides written opinions advising clients on the areas of income tax including capital gains tax, trusts, superannuation and R&D tax incentives as well as state based taxes and duties. She was listed as recommended junior counsel in Doyle’s guide - leading tax barristers in Queensland in 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2021. Other areas of administrative law in which she appears and advises on are veterans’ entitlements matters, occupational regulatory matters including for health practitioners, legal and tax practitioners and applications for judicial review.
